The filing  folders for  application  of  visa is only in the morning (Monday to Friday 
9h00-13h00) 

The withdrawal of visas is only in the afternoon (Monday to Friday 14h-17h 

Validity of Visas

Visas are valid from the date of issue. It is advisable to make your request as the date of departure approaches 

For visa visa applicants, it is advisable to apply for a three-month visa in order to have sufficient time.

For applicants of French, Spanish and Portuguese nationality, it is possible to obtain  tourist visas  upon arrival at Bole airport in Addis Ababa. 

1 Diplomatic Visa and Visa of Service * (Free)

• Photocopy of the passport data page
• Passport valid for more than 6 months
• Visa application form
• 1 identity photo (3cm X 4cm)
• Note verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

2 Tourist Visa and Transit Visa *

• Photocopy of the passport data page
• Passport validity of more than 6 months
• Visa application form
• 1 identity photo (3cm X 4cm)
• a copy of a round-trip plane ticket
• for French non-residents living in France: a copy of the residence card on both sides.
• Persons of French, Portuguese and Spanish nationality can obtain their tourist visa or visa of

conference on arrival at BOLE Airport in Addis Ababa or can obtain an online visa at  www.evisa.gov.et.

3 Professional Visa *

• Photocopy of the passport data page
• Passport valid for more than 6 months
• A visa authorization issued by the Ethiopian Immigration Service. This authorization must be requested at the immigration service by your partner in Ethiopia.
• Visa application form
• 1 identity photo (3cm X 4cm)
• a copy of a round trip ticket ( except for journalists and film crews)
• a mission letter specifying the reasons for the traveler’s travel
• Foreigners living in Swiss francs must present the Photocopia double-sided of their resident card.

Information for Journalists or Filming Teams *

Journalists or film crews wishing to visit Ethiopia should contact the Press Office in person with the following documents

Attetion :

– It takes at least 15 working days to obtain a visa for journalists or film crews. 
-All documents must be written in English.  
-It is recommended that you do not buy your plane ticket until you have obtained your permission and filming permit.

1. Engagement letter ;
2. Name and nationality of the journalist or members of the crew: Photocopies of passports;
3. Photocopy double-sided identity card or residence card
4. Purpose of the report or shoot;
5. List of press or audiovisual materials with serial number;
6. Reporting time or filming;
7. Reporting and filming locations
8. Title and Synopsis of the film;
9. Reportage or previous filming in Ethiopia (if there is one).

Business visa

Business visa application for Ethiopian Immigration. The host company in Ethiopia should request a visa approval. from Ethiopian immigration on behalf of the applicant.
